Teacher’s Day
“One book, one pen, one child and one teacher can change the world.” – Malala Yousafzai
Teacher’s Day is celebrated all over the country on September 5 every year to commemorate the birthday of Dr. Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, philosopher, teacher, and the second President of independent India, and honour his great contribution towards Indian education.
The students of Kalpa School celebrated Teacher’s Day on 5th September 2022, with immense enthusiasm and zeal, to express their sincere gratitude and appreciation for their teachers for their meticulous devotion, motivation, and guidance. Various programmes were planned for this special day. The preparations started many weeks earlier with students writing scripts of the short plays, selecting appropriate music and choreographing, and rehearsing with great enthusiasm during lunch hours and any other free time available during school hours.
The students decorated their respective classrooms with confetti and wrote slogans appreciating the contributions of their teachers. All the students of class X were requested to wear formal attire by the school’s Cultural Committee – tuxedos for the boys and sarees for the girls.
The celebrations started off fun filled games organized for the teachers in the school compound – that ranged from treasure hunt to musical chairs. The teachers had great fun recollecting their childhood memories. Before the performances began, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl addressed the gathering by welcoming the Director of the school, Mrs. Kusum Gupta, the Principal, Mrs. Ayesha Jeelani, Vice Principal, Mrs. Kusuma Bommakanti and the other teachers and acknowledging the very essence of teachers in an individual’s life. As per tradition, the cultural programme started with a prayer, followed by scintillating routines by the students. A wide bouquet of performances ranging from flute and veena recitals, beautiful rendition of songs, lively dance performances to a very funny comedy were on offer. There was also a lovely song performed by the school’s band dedicated to all the teachers, expressing gratitude on behalf of all the students. Students of all classes – from pre-primary to high school performed to entertain the faculty.
The one-and-a-half-hour cultural programme concluded with the Director, Mrs. Kusum Gupta’s address. While appreciating the hard work of all the students in making the event a magnificent success, she also reminded the students of the unstinting efforts put in by all the teachers to build them as knowledgeable and compassionate individuals. The management hosted a grand lunch for the teachers to show its appreciation for them.
It was a remarkable day for all the Kalpaites with many unforgettable moments. The teachers applauded the enthusiasm and efforts put in by the students for making the day a very special one.
